About Joshua

Joshua is a relatively new writer on Medium but not new to writing. Most of his prior writing involved composing police reports and operational plans as a detective with a large police department. That career in law enforcement honed his investigative skills and leadership abilities.

He excelled as a detective and became a certified SWAT operator, demonstrating his commitment to public safety. He specialized in capturing fugitives and the art of interviewing and interrogating. The highlight of his career was being promoted to the rank of Sergeant and mentoring young detectives.

However, Joshua believes that work should enrich our lives, not define them. Detective work and the pursuit of fugitives eventually became all-consuming, so Joshua left detective work after nearly 13 years.

With the time he gained from leaving that career, Joshua discovered a love of writing. Much of that writing focused on lessons learned in law enforcement.
