Amazon Is Providing A 30-day Notice About A Significant Modification In Prime Video

Amazon has announced that it will display advertisements to its Prime Video service users worldwide.

The company has announced that customers who wish to avoid the advertisements will have to pay an additional cost. For instance, UK Prime subscribers will be required to pay an extra fee of £2.99 in order to enjoy an ad-free experience.

Amazon has made a similar change, following the updates made by Disney+ and Netflix. However, unlike these services, Amazon offers ad-supported tiers at reduced prices instead of displaying advertisements to all of its users.

Streaming platforms have quickly implemented advertising strategies to generate additional revenue from their subscribers. They claim that this additional income will be utilized to invest in creating new content.

Amazon sent an email to its Prime members stating that the alteration will enable them to persist in investing in captivating content and progressively enhance this investment over a prolonged duration.

Earlier in 2021, the large technology company announced its plans to gradually introduce advertisement on Prime Video in several nations, such as the United Kingdom, United States, Germany, Canada, and other countries.

Starting from January 29, users in the US will start seeing advertisements.

The company has verified that users do not need to do anything prior to the implementation of the change, and there will be no alteration in the current cost of a user’s membership, unless they decide to subscribe to the ad-free choice.

In the UK, Amazon Prime is presently priced at £8.99 per month, offering various services such as next-day and same-day delivery on a wide range of marketplace items. Additionally, it provides ad-free listening on its music streaming platform and grants access to original TV series and movies on Prime Video. Amazon has confirmed that this subscription fee will remain unchanged until 2024.
