What is love?

Over the centuries, men have tried to define this mystery called Love but have fallen short of the Truth. Singers, Poets, Philosophers, name it. Countless times men have come up with different notions about love, some settling for caricatures. At most, people have tried to understand the expressions of it which doesn't even begin to scratch the surface.

Love is more than a philosophy. Some have gone on to boldly declare that love doesn't exist for many reasons. But have you ever pondered the truth about love?

Love for many is a feeling, a bunch of emotions that permeates the heart and channels one's mind to thinking that they love a person. Between family members, one's understanding of love is much deeper albeit lacking. Love for the most part is a choice. It has little to do with emotions and more to do with commitment--not saying that emotions are completely useless. I will speak about that later.

Love has been classified into three kinds; Agape, Filial and Eros but I will boldly disagree with that. All the other types of love are merely expressions. The Agape which is defined as a divine love, a love shared between God and man is one I will refer to it as the main love.

For starters, God is love. In other words God is the definition of love, he is the author and the embodiment of love. So when one claims to love, one must know God for it is impossible to love without God.

To understand love, one must walk with God, see and know him. Knowing him reveals a certain measure of truth in men's hearts. The bible says the Holy Spirit sheds abroad his love in our hearts. That is a knowledge which expands and there after becomes a truth that one embodies and manifests.

When you know love, you see clearly. Love shines a light in men's hearts illuminating it's deepest parts. It is a sword that will divide truth from deception for the greatest measure of love is truth.
