I actually love spring! It is second only to my next favorite time of the year, winter!
With spring comes the warm air with a delicate mixture of a cool breeze. With Spring comes the cool mornings but the warm daytime.
But with spring, when I was a boy, came the intense attacks of allergies and sinuses.
Blurry eyes, runny nose, headaches and fevers were a norm for me during my elementary and middle school years and part of high school. I had to properly adjust how I lived and played as a kid.
My dad’s advice for a little boy who wanted to go play but suffered from allergies — “stay indoors.” Lame, I know. But, I get it. My parents ran out of options and you can only safely and legally give your kid so much allergy medication without accidentally putting his lights out quicker than a bull elephant.
And honestly, it’s almost as if the good meds didn’t come out until I got into my 20’s and 30’s. Conspiracy, surely it is!
But, even with all of that, I still love spring. I loved it even more so when I realized how much I loved studying weather at age 11. In Texas, spring means severe weather season.
I’m sort of a geek about severe weather coverage! And I’m still geeked out about spring … provided my allergies behave.
